What does a psychiatric visit involve?
A psychiatrist specializes in diagnosing and treating mental health problems such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and addictions, personality disorders.
The first visit is diagnostic, and subsequent visits are for monitoring the treatment’s progress. During the appointment, the doctor assesses the health condition, familiarizes themselves with the problem, and recommends treatment. Only a psychiatrist is authorized to issue medical leave due to deterioration in mental health. After diagnosis, the doctor may refer for psychotherapy, which, combined with pharmacological treatment, is highly effective. In particularly difficult situations, the doctor may refer the patient to a hospital.
At Mental Path, we offer psychiatric consultations for children, adolescents, and adults.
